Cookies & Local Storage Policy
Privacy First
PRC Wallet is non-custodial. Your private keys and seed/backups never leave your device and are never stored in cookies or sent to our servers. The web wallet uses browser storage to keep encrypted, device-local data so you remain in control.
1. What technologies we use (plain English)
2. Where cookies/storage are used
A) Marketing site (prc.network)
We use a minimal set of essential and preference cookies for things like language/theme and remembering your consent. Optional analytics are opt-in.
B) Web wallet (wallet.prc.network)
By default, the wallet does not set cookies. It uses local/IndexedDB storage on your device for:
- Encrypted wallet state (e.g., keystore), settings, address book
- Network preferences and UI state
This information is never used for advertising and is not shared with third parties.
Security Reminder
Keys/seed are encrypted and stored locally. Do not sync or export these via screenshots, cloud notes, or email.
3. Your choices & consent
- In regions where required (EU/EEA/UK etc.), we display a consent banner allowing you to accept, reject, or customize non-essential cookies.
- You can change your choice anytime via "Manage Cookies" in the footer.
- We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Do Not Track (DNT) by treating them as an opt-out for non-essential cookies.
4. Cookie categories
Essential (Always On)
Site security, consent, basic functionality; do not require consent.
Preferences (Opt-in where required)
Language, theme.
Analytics (Opt-in)
Privacy-respecting usage metrics to improve the product.
Marketing (Not used by default)
Only if you explicitly enable such tools in the future.
6. Wallet storage (no cookies)
Applies to: wallet.prc.network
We use localStorage/IndexedDB for:
- Encrypted vault/keystore (device-local)
- Network & address preferences (e.g., selected chain)
- Non-sensitive UI state (e.g., last viewed tab)
We do not use cookies in the wallet by default. Wallet storage is not readable by our servers and is not used for ads.
7. Analytics & error monitoring (optional)
Option A — Privacy-first analytics (recommended):
- Plausible (cookieless) or self-hosted, aggregated metrics only; no personal profiles; respects DNT/GPC.
- Cookies: none.
- Legal basis: consent where required; legitimate interests otherwise.
- Retention: typically 12–18 months aggregated.
Option B — Google Analytics 4 (only if you enable it):
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguish users | Analytics | 2 years | Only if GA4 enabled | |
| _ga_* | Session state | Analytics | 2 years | Only if GA4 enabled | |
| _gid | Distinguish users (short-term) | Analytics | 24 hours | Only if GA4 enabled |
- IP anonymization on; signals/ads features disabled by default.
- Legal basis: consent in regions that require it.
Error tracking (optional):
- Sentry (recommended): no cookies by default; may use localStorage for de-duping.
- Purpose: diagnose crashes/performance, not marketing.
- Retention: e.g., 90 days (configure).
- Legal basis: legitimate interests or consent where required.
8. Third-party services (when used)
- On/Off-ramps & payments: Any partner will be clearly labeled and operates under their own privacy policy and cookies.
- WalletConnect/dApp tooling: May use localStorage in your browser to manage secure sessions; not marketing cookies.
We list active partners on /security/audits or /legal/privacy. Do not enable third-party marketing trackers.
9. Jurisdictions & legal bases
10. Data retention
11. Managing cookies & storage
- Use Manage Cookies in the footer to change your preferences.
- Browser controls: you can delete cookies and site data, block third-party cookies, or clear local/IndexedDB storage.
- Blocking essential cookies may break site functionality; the web wallet will continue to function without cookies but requires local storage for encrypted data.
12. Updates to this policy
We'll update this page if we change the tools we use or our retention periods. The effective date above reflects the latest version. Material changes will prompt a renewed consent.
