Backup & Recovery
Back up your PRC Wallet correctly, test recovery, and ensure you can always regain access to funds.

Critical Rule
Never store seeds digitally (screenshots, photos, cloud, notes, password managers without offline export). Use two offline locations stored separately.
Backup Steps
- Prepare materials: pen + durable paper (or metal backup).
- Write your seed: words exactly in order; legible uppercase helps.
- Create a second copy: store in a different offline location.
- Seal and label: avoid wallet names; use neutral labels.
Passphrase (optional)
A passphrase creates a different wallet from the same seed. Use only if you can memorize it or store offline securely. Losing it makes those funds unrecoverable.
Recovery Testing
- On a separate device or fresh profile, import the seed (and passphrase if used).
- Compare balances and recent transactions with your original wallet.
- If balances don’t match, check the network and derivation path; verify you entered the passphrase correctly.
Ongoing Practices
- Review backups every 6–12 months; replace faded copies.
- Keep locations private; avoid storing both copies in one place.
- After compromise suspicions, move funds first, then revoke allowances.
