Self-custody: Custodial vs Non-custodial wallets
In a custodial wallet, a provider holds your keys and may control access. In a non-custodial wallet like PRC, you hold your private keys and are responsible for security. Read our security overview.
| Type | Custodial (Exchanges) | Non‑custodial (PRC) |
|---|---|---|
| Control | Company controls your keys | You control your keys |
| Security | Rely on their security | Your responsibility |
| Access | Can freeze/limit accounts | Always accessible |
Key concepts: Seed phrases, private/public keys, addresses
A seed phrase generates your wallet and funds recovery. Private keys sign transactions; public keys derive addresses. Learn more in Backup & Recovery and Self‑Custody Safety.
PRC supports EVM chains and Vite today. See supported chains in Networks.
